| The Coaching Partnership |

Given the personal nature of a coaching, we'd need to determine whether we could work well together and agree on the format for our coaching partnership ...
I'd ensure that we have the basis of an effective coaching partnership by organising a 'chemistry meeting' in which I'd encourage you to explore whether I'm the right coach for you ... Having reviewed my coaching profile which is available as a download, I'd recommend that you ask me the following questions or similiar : v What kind of coaching have your undertaken with those who have a similiar role or challenge ? v How do you maintain your objectivity and perspective during coaching sessions ? v What theoretical frameworks do you use when coaching ? v What specific tools, techniques and models do you use ? v What activities do you undertake to keep your skills up to date ? v How do you ensure that you abide by the code of ethics of your professional body ? v Do you think supervision is important for coaching professionals ? v How did you select your supervisor ? What are their credentials ? v What experience / understanding do you have of my profession; my business and/or my industry ?
I'd also recommend that you speak with at least three other coaches before making a decision as to who you would like to work with. I acknowledge that I cannot be 'all things to all people'. I have identified a niche that reflects my professional expertise and coaching skills and have developed products and services that provide tangible benefits and a measurable return on investment for my coachees and/or sponsors. My ethics are such that I will not accept an assignment for which my coaching profile is not suitable and/or when there is insufficient chemistry between myself and the coachee. The specific code of practice I use for both private and corporate clients is available to download. If you decide to work with me I'd organise a 'contracting meeting' before we commenced our coaching sessions so that we could establish the parametres of our coaching relationship upfront. The key elements we'd need to agree are ... v My role as your coach and the nature of our working relationship based on honesty; integrity; trust v My assurance of confidentiality v The parameters for our relationship and the boundaries within which I have the expertise to work v The specfic objectives for the coaching programme together with the method for evaluatining ROI v The coaching style and degree of challenge that you are looking for v The timescale and fee for the coaching programme v The logistics for coaching sessions / ad-hoc contact v The parametres for providing feedback to your sponsor if appropriate
